Proclamation


WHEREAS:    Fathers play a unique role in the lives of our children, and provide the foundation for the healthy and social development of our families; and
WHEREAS: Healthy and socially developed children and families are vital to the interest and future of Oregon; and
WHEREAS: It is important to give appropriate recognition to fathers for the unique and valuable role that they play in the day-to-day lives of children, families and society; and
WHEREAS: It is appropriate to honor all fathers, both past and present on Fathers Day, and encourage future fathers to be mindful of the importance of their role in society.
NOW,
THEREFORE, I, John A. Kitzhaber, Governor of the State of Oregon, hereby proclaim June 21-27, 1998 to be

FATHERHOOD WEEK

in Oregon and encourage all citizens to join in this observance.
