The fine folks at NASA have just (February 2003) upgraded the view of the cosmos background radiation, using WMAP, and have determined that the universe is 13.7 billion years old ±1%.

I took their picture and converted it (from 'full sky') to a Mercator projection:

and then wrapped it around a sphere. Then I stepped inside the sphere, and gave it a little spin. I was trying to simulate what we'd see from the back porch (in 24 hours), if the background radiation was visible to the naked eye.

Now if we just knew what it sounded like?
