Finally found the tail- horribly vandalized- some tail numbers have been cut out but some still discernable. "485746" was original marking.   "7" would be the hacked square to the right and "46" are on the crushed section around the right (leading edge) side.  Green dots added to faded numbers for illustration purposes.

(2001)

Higgins boat and deployment chutes.  (2001)

Dscn4345.jpg (33423 bytes)

Guess we weren't the first to the upper field.  These propellor blades were not sheared off- they were hacked off (note tool marks) many years ago, probably for aluminum salvage value.  (2001)

The gem of the site.  The hidden port wing segment (approx 20-30 feet long).  AF logo is to the left.  This is one GPS coordinate I won't reveal.  (2001)

Portions of these are still visible at the upper debris field.  Photo by John McAuliffe

Is this a piece of the landing gear at the UPPER debris field??

Many bulkheads are sawn through, possibly to weaken structure before post-crash "clean-up" (destruction) by the military.

Lower left portion of the cockpit, sheared off near first bounce, before the long slide down the hill.

Note broken seat mount- probably location of navigator killed in the crash.
