TSGT John DeRoth was one of the two radio operators on the flight.

Tragically, he was thrown clear and died on impact.  His body, accompanied by one of the survivors, was flown back to his native Stavangen, Norway for burial.  

From the Medical Examiner's report:  "This man was found still strapped to his seat, which had been torn loose from its mountings.   He apparently went through the side of the aircraft and then hit a tree.   Even if his seat had held, it is doubtful if he would have survived because his station in the aircraft was completely demolished."
