MIRKWOOD

BOOTH 622, SHADY LANE

CELEBRATING 35 YEARS AT THE FAIR

[History] [Handcrafted Wares]

History of Mirkwood:

Mirkwood began life in 1976, seven years after the very first fair (then called the Renaissance Faire). The name of the booth was taken from the ever-popular The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein, in part because of the fair's magical nature and forested surroundings. The booth has had some repairs over the years, but has survived yearly spring floods with grace and added character. Due to the ravages of time, and the inevitable effect of gravity, the loft was removed before the 1996 fair. We are proud to say that most of the booth renovations have not detracted from its original weathered appearance.

We hope to see you all there. Stop by and say hello. Over the years, the handcrafted wares offered for sale at Mirkwood have changed to meet OCF stringent quality requirements. A small sampling of our wares can be seen under Handcrafted wares.

All of us at Mirkwood wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has ever helped to make 622 Shady Lane such a success over the years. Special thanks to all of the wonderful neighbors and fair people who make being a part of the fair so magical every year. As usual, we look forward to seeing old and new friends at the fair this year.
